Initiatives to a Greener Future

In the past, ARCTIC was honoured with a certificate by Der Grüne Punkt Der Grüne Punkt - a leading provider of take-back systems, to award our green effort by reduction 17 tons of CO2 on product packaging recycling, this is equivalent to carbon sequestered by 395 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.

We're a Carbon Neutral Company

This year, ARCTIC became a carbon neutral company. Being carbon neutralise means to remove as much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as we put in. We invested into carbon offset by supporting a Gold Standard® environmental protection project in Jiangsu, China - known as the "Venice of the East".

The Gold standard® project (GS397) has positively impact the economy, health, welfare and environment of the local community hosting the project. The site generates electricity from landfill gas, reducing emissions of harmful gases such as methane and odor prevention and feeding it into Jiangsu Province's local grid. The project has result in achieving an annual reduction of 134,000 t CO2, which is equivalent to the amount of CO2 emissions from the electricity use of 15,157 homes for one year.


Established in 2003 by WWF, the Gold Standard® Premium Quality Carbon Credit meets stringent UNO and WWF® specifications. It is the only certification standard trusted and endorsed by more than 80 NGOs worldwide.

The GS397 Landfill Gas Recovery Project

With the decomposition of organic materials in landfills from production sites in China, it generates large amounts of methane, a greenhouse gas 21 times stronger than CO2. To keep it from damaging our climate and make use of its potential as a sustainable energy source, a project was set up to captures harmful gases such as methane, hydrogen sulfide(H2S), Ammonia (NH ) and other odor prevention emission from the landfill. The captured gas is used to generate electricity energy, feeding it into Jiangsu Province's local grid. Today, the landfill gas collection is managing both solid waste disposal and local energy supply in a sustainable way.



Socio-Economic Impact

The project improved the life of the locals and benefit society by job creations, regular job training, international skill exchange, scholarship program and mobile health unit offers free examination and treatment to the local communities.


Environmental Impact

With China's growing cities and economies, not only supply of energy and goods is becoming a logistic challenge but also disposal and its implications. This project brought significant improvement to better air quality in the region, its soil and water sources. By implement of modern green technologies, the proposed project contributing to the country's city management on green environment. Nonetheless, a recreational park was built next to the former open landfill as a place for leisure activities to demonstrate the impressive transformation "from dump to source of green energy".
